Equb Manager
For organisers running equb out of a notebook. Members, rounds, collections and payouts — with a record that settles arguments before they start.
THE PROBLEM
Equb runs on trust, and trust runs on memory.
Which works until the group gets big, or somebody forgets, or two people remember differently.
The notebook is the only record
One book, in one person's hands. If it is lost, soaked, or simply hard to read, there is no second copy of who paid what and when.
Collectors hold cash nobody can see
A worker collects from members and brings it to the organiser. Between those two moments, only one person knows the amount — and that is where suspicion grows, even when nobody has done anything wrong.
Half-payments break the count
A member pays part of a round, then part again later. Keeping track of who is actually up to date, across dozens of members and many rounds, is where the arguments come from.
WHAT IT DOES
Every birr has a name, a time and a witness.
Fixed or lottery groups
Run a group where the order is agreed in advance, or one where each round is drawn. Both are handled properly, including who has already received.
Members and rounds
Every member, every round, every payment. Part-payments are counted correctly, so nobody is marked paid for a round they only half covered.
The remittance record
When a collector hands money to the organiser, both sides see the same entry. This is the feature that keeps good people from being suspected.
Owner, worker, member
Three roles, each seeing only what they should. Collectors record what they collected; members see their own position; the organiser sees everything.
Members check by Telegram
A member does not need to install anything. They can see their own payments and what round is next through a Telegram bot, on the phone they already use.
Works offline
Collect in a place with no signal and record it there. It syncs when you are back on a connection, and your record is complete either way.
Your commission, handled
The organiser's cut is taken as one extra collector round rather than skimmed from payouts — visible to everyone, argued over by nobody.
Backed up nightly
Encrypted, stored off-site, and checked that it can actually be restored. A lost phone does not mean a lost equb.

QUESTIONS
What organisers ask
Does the app hold our money?
No. Money moves exactly the way it does today, hand to hand. Equb Manager records what was collected, by whom, and when it was handed over. It is a record, not a bank.
Do my members need to install anything?
No. Members can check their own payments and the next round through a Telegram bot, using the phone and app they already have. Only you and your collectors need Equb Manager itself.
A member says he paid and I have no note of it. What then?
Every payment carries the name of whoever recorded it and the time it was recorded. That does not prove what happened in a room with no phone — but it means most disagreements are settled by looking, instead of by arguing about who remembers better.
What if somebody pays only half a round?
It is counted as half. Rounds paid are worked out from the total amount received against the round amount, so a member is never shown as fully paid for a round he only partly covered.
We collect in places with no network. Does that work?
Yes. Record it there and it syncs when you are back on a connection. Nothing needs the internet at the moment of collection.
What happens if I lose my phone?
The database is backed up every night, encrypted and stored off-site, and restores are tested rather than assumed. Install again, and your groups come back.
